Ingredients 

Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. 2. Add oil, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  3. 3. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onion until beef is browned. Add cabbage, salt, and pepper. Cook until cabbage is tender.
  4. 4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down dough and divide into 8 pieces. Roll each piece into a circle.
  5. 5. Place a scoop of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold dough over filling and pinch edges to seal.
  6. 6. Place bierocks on a baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
