Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Yeast
  • 1 ½ cups Milk warmed
  • 2 tablespoon Butter melted
  • ¼ cup Cornmeal for dusting

Instructions 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. Gradually add warmed milk and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.
  6. Dust a baking sheet with cornmeal and place the rounds on it. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat a griddle over medium heat. Cook the muffins for about 7-10 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before splitting and toasting.
