Main Ingredients
- 4 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon Yeast
- 1 ½ cups Milk warmed
- 2 tablespoon Butter melted
- ¼ cup Cornmeal for dusting
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Gradually add warmed milk and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.
Dust a baking sheet with cornmeal and place the rounds on it. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Heat a griddle over medium heat. Cook the muffins for about 7-10 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Cool on a wire rack before splitting and toasting.
