French Onion Soup Recipe
A classic French Onion Soup recipe with caramelized onions, beef broth, and a cheesy crouton topping.

- 4 large Onions thinly sliced
- 4 cups Beef Broth
- ½ cup White Wine
- 2 tablespoon Butter
- 1 teaspoon Thyme dried
- 1 bay leaf Bay Leaf
- 1 loaf French Bread sliced
- 1 cup Gruyere Cheese grated
1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 25 minutes.
2. Add white wine to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Add beef broth, thyme, and bay leaf. Simmer for 30 minutes.
4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place sliced French bread on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 10 minutes.
5. Ladle soup into oven-safe bowls. Place a slice of toasted bread on top of each bowl and sprinkle with grated Gruyere cheese.
6. Place bowls under the broiler until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5 minutes. Serve hot.
