Main Ingredients
- 2 cups split peas
- 1 ham bone or 1 cup diced ham
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 stalks celery chopped
- 1 teaspoon thyme dried
- 6 cups chicken broth
- to taste salt and pepper
1. Rinse the split peas under cold water.
2. In a large pot, combine all ingredients except salt and pepper.
3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
4. Remove the ham bone, chop any meat, and return to the pot. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
