Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces Steak (ribeye or sirloin) about 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper freshly ground
  • 2 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 2 sprigs Thyme

Instructions

  1. 1. Take the steaks out of the fridge and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. 2. Preheat your cast iron pan over high heat until it's smoking hot.
  3. 3. Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub them with olive oil and season generously with salt and black pepper.
  4. 4. Place the steaks in the hot pan and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side, until a crust forms.
  5. 5. Add the garlic and thyme to the pan. Tilt the pan and spoon the melted butter over the steaks for another 1-2 minutes.
  6. 6. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. For medium-rare, it should read 130°F (54°C).
  7. 7. Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
